You Don’t Live There Anymore

The worst day of your life doesn't come with a warning. It just arrives. Quiet sometimes. Loud other times. But always sudden. The kind of day that leaves your chest hollow and your hands heavy. The kind that makes you walk slower, like even gravity got tired.

You sit with it. You stare at it. Maybe you drink. Maybe you don't. But you remember. You always remember.

And then — one morning, or maybe late at night, when it’s quiet — you stop wanting to go back to it. You’ve looked it in the face enough times. You've studied the pain like an old photograph. You know every crease, every reason. And now you say, Hell no. I’m not going back there. Not today. Not again.

That’s the beginning. Not of forgetting — but of healing.

You can test this. You can sit in a chair. Alone. You reflect back to your worst day — the one that tried to break you. Sit with it. Let it rise. Then look at today. Right now. You’re still here. Still breathing. The world hasn’t won.

Which one do you choose?

The past is always there if you want to lose yourself. But the present — the present is where the fight is. Where the peace is too. You don’t need to win every day. You just need to catch yourself.

When your get more info mind starts drifting, when the pain comes creeping in — stop. Just stop.
Breathe.
Say it out loud if you have to: I’m fine. I’m going to be just fine.
It may take time. It will take time.
But say it anyway.

The brain listens. It learns. It starts to protect you. The more you pull yourself back, the faster it remembers the way.
You don't have to live in that old place anymore.
You survived it.
